Re: HCCA Gazette
I love it and think Tracy does a great job. It seems lost recently that it has been a great publication since I started reading my dad's copies in the '60s. John Meyer and those before him certainly did a great job as well.

Re: 1915 Metz Model 22 - Engine
No need for further explanation, although yours was very good. All you had to say was friction drive. I don't have any cars with them, but there has been discussion here from Cartercar and other makes owners about relining the drive wheel with various materials. Hopefully one of them will chime in h...

Re: 1915 Metz Model 22 - Engine
I have been told that the engine in the Model 22 Metz,1915 vintage, is very similar to the Ford Model T engine. True? If so, is it reasonable to assume that parts available for the Model T will work on the Metz engine? My engine is missing a lot. Possibly I have the needle valve too rich(?). Any su...

Re: car identification Stoddard Dayton?
Gene had a neat trick he'd do with that car. It had a big engine, and only crank start. I'm not sure how he did it (I was a dumb kid, now I'm just dumb) but after it was shut off, he was able to get it to start by flipping on the coil switch, and BAM! It would kick over and start without cranking it...

Re: car identification Stoddard Dayton?
Very cool! I believe it is a Stoddard Dayton, it could be a 1911 like the one my parents friends the LeFebre's of Lewiston, Idaho found, restored, and toured. That was a great car. https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/25219/lot/287/ https://images2.bonhams.com/image?src=Images/live/2018-12/14/24827034-1...

Re: What kind of a car is this
That's a good one, but I'm stumped. To me it looks like a late teens car. I thought Saxon, Hupmobile, Overland, Chalmers, Scripps Booth, and more with no matches. I think the wire wheels look typical to me. It's not a Velie, we had one of those. It looks familiar, and it's hard to believe it would b...

Re: 1909 Locomobile Toy Tonneau, Rebuild Improvements for Reliability
That’s an awesome looking car. Funny story. When I acquired my 15 Overland Speedster, I knew it would have to be restored and many things changed. Since they didn’t make a true speedster in 15 I wanted to see what other “made up” 15’s looked like. I went to my Gazette photo index and found all the i...

Re: 1909 Locomobile Toy Tonneau, Rebuild Improvements for Reliability
Jeff, It is nice to hear a "GOOD" "TIP of THE DAY". Any new developments on the speedster? Al Sorry for the delay. Once I got oil pressure I had an unusual amount of oil leaks that I fixed one at a time. Talk about famine to feast! From the siteglass, the underdash copper line connecting the gauge ...

Re: 1909 Locomobile Toy Tonneau, Rebuild Improvements for Reliability
Years ago I used Bob’s Speedometer to repair and restore gauges for my Overland. They did a beautiful job, but it was much more expensive than I imagined it would be.
