Re: 1909 Lambert rear axle lubrication question with pictures
Pat F is right on all counts. But just a bit more about oiling. You should consider each lubrication point individually. As Pat said, originally, something similar to modern 30wt was used. However, it had few if any additives, leaked like crazy, and made a big mess around the car dripping its way to...

Emails back and forth, some forwarded. I don't know if anything will come from it? But thank you HCCA! It was also nice for me to catch up with Doug Marin! It had been years since I talked with him, and he is a very interesting fellow with an incredible car! From the pictures I have seen, the workma...

Re: What vehicle could this be from??
Better pictures of this could help. Is that a badly bent steering wheel there? Does it appear to have maybe had a brass casting with wood pieces attached around it? How many spokes? It looks like maybe there are only three spokes? That would be very unusual, although Saxon used a three spoke wheel i...

Re: FRONT AXLE
That was a common type of axle and spring used on high wheel type cars (autobuggies, gasoline carriages, etc) from about 1903 through 1911. I can tell you that it is likely NOT for a Sears or IHC. The Sears uses the square axle turned on edge (one of the few that did that), while the IHC had a drop ...

Re: 1907 IHC Engine?
Google showed me pictures of what appears to be your Hatfield with that engine, so that answers that part. Mr G also found some specs for Hatfield at the following link: https://books.google.com/books?id=kdz7AAAAQBAJ&pg=PA83&lpg=PA83&dq=Hatfield+Buggyabout&source=bl&ots=-4-D5NwTGZ&sig=GU4Qw5yGsYxqLF...

Is this in the 1906 Hatfield Buggyabout? Have you seen copies of any Hatfield sales literature? Should be available through the Horseless Carriage Foundation Inc for a small but worthwhile fee.

Sadly, the VCC GB has announced that the driver of the 1902 Benz "has died as a result of his injuries".
My deepest condolences to all his family and friends.

Just a "heads up", L to B accident.
Not many details yet. However, a 1902 Benz was involved in a wreck along with three modern cars on the annual London to Brighton run yesterday. Reports vary, one or two seriously injured.

One of my long time best friends had a 1925 model L Lincoln. Great car! There were a lot of reasons why he really loved that car. Fuel economy was not one of them.
Wonderful fire truck by the way.

Yes, thank you for another excellent tour report. I especially liked seeing that big one cylinder Packard! Some years back, I attended a one and two cylinder tour in Califunny, A fellow I knew had brought a very similar Packard, Beautiful car, huge, and fast for such an early car. It looks like you ...

Ooh, Ouch! Glad you are okay and that your wife will be. Losing a front wheel that way is a scary thing, almost as scary as being thrown by a horse. Tell your wife to be careful there also. My wife broke two ribs that way some years back. She still has pain because of it. Metallurgy is a specialty r...
