This picture appeared in the local Decorah Iowa newspaper column "Echos from the past".
They had no clue what it was.
I would appreciate your help with ideas.
Notice the not-too-many-spokes wheels.
Also a clue might be the louvered hood and big bulgy trunk.
Please attach a picture with your answer.
I tried all the suggestions on some other sites.
Still dumbfounded or dumb.
Today, I scoured Bill Jepsen's Iowa's Automobiles, more than 300 pages of probably every automobile that was manufactured, assembled or dreamed of in Iowa.
I have not completely ruled out it being a "one-of-a-kind" body built on some commercial chassis.
I haven't given up.
Going to do more research, but the Ioway Transportation Museum must be out of business.

Re: What kind of a car is this
That's a good one, but I'm stumped. To me it looks like a late teens car. I thought Saxon, Hupmobile, Overland, Chalmers, Scripps Booth, and more with no matches. I think the wire wheels look typical to me. It's not a Velie, we had one of those. It looks familiar, and it's hard to believe it would be a custom body. Just my $.02. Anyway, good luck!
