Grey and Davis 104??

Post by Blunderbuss » Fri May 01, 2015 7:37 am

I just registered and I have a question. I was picking through a guys barn for model T parts and stumbled across some carriage lamps that I thought were neat. I ended up buying an awesome pair of Grey and Davis 104 lamps. They have great glass, and aside from some minor dings and dents, the brass is in really good shape. The lamps came with some reproduction brackets. I tried to research these on the internet, but couldn't find any information. I would love to know what cars these went on, and also what a set is worth?

Not sure if these went with a particular car. Gray & Davis were a large lamp manufacturer and their lights were used in many makes. They were also large sellers in the aftermarket field. Here is a history with many early ads:

That is helpful, thank you for your response. Do you have any idea of a ball park value on them?
I also picked up these lamps in the same lot. 1 ford 1913/14 tail light, two unmarked 3 tier lights, 1 neverout safety light, an Altwood 120, and a Dietz tubular driving lamp. Does anyone know what the un marked ones might be?

The lamps with handles were used on earlier cars like the 1905 Maxwell. You could lift them off to check your engine, etc. in the dark. They are worth more in pairs, as there are so many different designs. An unrestored single brass side lamp in good basic condition might sell for around $125.

I don't know what they went on, but I've fallen in love. Is this pair for sale? Thanks.
