This year's Marion Welsh award was presented to Conrad C. Fletcher of Golden, Colorado.   Con, as his friends call him, was born on a farm in Nebraska.   There he developed a love and appreciation of farm machinery and early cars.   Before acquiring his vast collection of brass cars, he first had boats, airplanes and a Model A Roadster.   He even had an airplane runway at his home where he put out lanterns to guide him home on dark nights.   He built a storage area for his brass collection which the local clubs use as a "clubhouse".  In the 1970's, he worked on the national Board.   He was first a director and then a secretary, treasurer, vice-president, president and then chairman of the Board.   Now that he is retired, he spends his time with Eva traveling in their motor home and going to HCCA tours, swap meets and conventions.   He has been to more of these events than anyone else can remember.

Marion Welsh was a dedicated 20 year executive secretary for HCCA many years ago.  Through illness, she continued her work. After she passed away, the National Board of Directors established an award in her honor to be given away every year to the person nominated by the regions and voted in writing by all Board Members.

A very large trophy with the names of all prior winners is located in the San Diego Automotive Museum in Balboa Park.   It is on the front counter in the museum library.
