Re: Brass era transmission oil. Anybody using this?

Thanks Dave. I'll be interested to hear what you find out. I have heard that this product has been used by others in their antiques for the last 10 years with no issue.

Brass era transmission oil. Anybody using this?

Has anyone been using Chevron MULTIFAK EP 00 in their trans and rear end? It is caramel in color with a viscosity similar to cold honey, and is intended for high-pressure industrial gear lubrication. A friend recommended this product. I had never heard of it. It's a semi-fluid grease. It solves the...

Re: USL starters

Al The USL starter/generator were a very unique design in that they were incorporated into the transmission side of the flywheel! You can't see any starter from the outside when looking at the bell housing. They were used by a few cars in 1914,15 and maybe a bit longer. My friends 14 Moyer has a 24 ...

Hi George
I can't help you on when the color coding started but my 14 Premier also has what appears to be black wiring.

Re: Anti-Freeze of water in the summer

I've been wondering about this as well. Does the soluble oil stop aluminum corrosion from occurring? Or does it only prevent the cast iron from rusting? I'm concerned about my aluminum waterpump and other parts in the cooling system. I've always run antifreeze without problem however if it gets on t...

Re: Starting 1911 Buick 33

I run the same Schebler Model L as Gil uses on my 12 Oakland. For the last 35 years It's been a great carb. Cold or hot it's never given any trouble starting. I did get it rebuilt before I put it on. As I remember getting it set the first time was tricky. I haven't had to play with it since for over...

Re: Your best brass car trailer

Hi Bill You'll have to come up with your specific requirements for a trailer before I could comment. Do you need an over height trailer? What length? How heavy is your antique? What is your tow vehicle? In my case I was able to find in town a great smaller, enclosed trailer suitable for my T. I also...

Re: 1914 Premier Z2 touring

Thanks for your comments. The way this 415 cu in engine sounds with the cut out open makes me think it will be a great tour car! I might need ear plugs though. I'm still looking for info on who restored this car in the 50's or 60's if anyone knows. I'll definitely try the Automobile Library (HCFI) a...

Re: 1914 Premier Z2 touring

Hi Don. The Premier is a nice find. I feel very fortunate to have it. The engine is 415 cu in and guaranteed to never pass a gas station!! It starts and runs well. The transmission shifts extremely smoothly. The wheels were a $80 factory option when new. Not Rudge, they are Houk. They've all been re...

1914 Premier Z2 touring

I recently purchased this car and I'm hoping to get some history and information on it. My car is a 6 cyl T-head, 7 pass. touring that was restored prior to 1971. It was purchased back then by Dick Phillipi from somebody in the east and shipped to Downey, CA. Dick toured the car for several years an...

That looks very good. We were held up last year trying to get the left hub off our 11 Stanley. Ended up driving 50 miles to borrow one. Actually the fellow had a spare so I was able to buy it and keep it in the car. Thanks Pat :D

Re: 2016 Eastern National One-and Two-Cylinder Tour

Another great tour report. I would have thought the touring season would have ended by now but the weather looked great (for the most part). Out here in Vancouver the monsoons have arrived for the next 4 months. Hope you get to the bottom of your issues with the Stanley. It was good talking with you...

What are you using for transmission oil?

I'm going to pull the transmission on my 12 Oakland and go thru it and I don't have any replacement oil left for it. What are you using for transmission oil in your antique? The last time I bought oil was 15 years ago. Maybe there's something better out there today.
Thanks
Ken
