Re: 1903 Columbus

With most cars, all I do is stop the rust and get it cleaned up and running well. I like the battle scars, the wear, the story that old cars can tell. I do not like them "sanitized."

Thank you. I am not sure if your quote "not restoring survivors" is a signature or request? In either event, I have not the slightest to restore. I fully intend to maintain it in original condition. We are having a great time with it! Thanks.

Re: 1903 Columbus Electric and 1916 Baker Rauch Lang Electri

I doubt you'll find factory serial number records on these cars, but I see three Columbus Electrics in the HCCA Roster. Those owners might be of assistance. The Standard Catalog of American Cars says "Although the [Baker, Rauch & Lang] designations were occasionally used in the trade press ... the ...

Re: 1903 Columbus Electric and 1916 Baker Rauch Lang Electri

I have a 1903 Columbus and serial number 3174. I am trying to sort it out. Runs well and seems to be in good condition. Here is our car at our home in Stone Mountain (suburb Atlanta) Georgia.

Your best brass car trailer specifications?

I want to have a good trailer. Looks like I want to have one built. What specifications would you want?

Re: Polishing Brass

Since this is 2013 post, are there any new tech polishes? Especially some that maintain the polish? Maybe a polish that cleans the brass, but leaves a slightly older appearance?

1920 Cadillac - starter - LUBRICATE

I just had a failure on a recently purchased 1920 Cadillac. The starter bendix gear has a hollow shaft that should be lubricated with transmission oil. Mine ran dry. The bendix stuck in the flywheel and the engine spun the armature throwing off wiring. I am having to rewind it, and new bushings in t...

Re: Need needle valve 1920 Cadillac

Thanks for your reply. I have received a carburetor kit from "The Carburetor Shop" and a float on eBay. Problem was with the home made (previously owner) cork float. Was not seating properly. Since the fuel pressure seems around 2 psi, according to the gage, a vitron tip (included with metal) needle...

Have been collecting "Modern" Cadillacs of the 1956-1960 vintage. Always liked vintage and just got a 1920 Cadillac and a 1923 Model T Depot Hack. I have a fair sized hobbyist workshop and having fun with these old cars. I am making application to local HCCA and made a few neat acquaintances in the ...

Need needle valve 1920 Cadillac

Before I got the car, a previous mechanic installed a needle valve with a rubber tip. I think the float is getting stuck and need to find a needle that is all metal. I am new to the very old cars and have been working on the more modern cars, like 1956-1960! Where can I find the needle? I do have a ...
