I have made babbited shells for a couple of engines with good result. I used bearing bronze for the shells because it is readily available in heavy wall tubes and short lengths from McMaster Carr. Hi,
I tried one of these on my Model T with standard buzz coil ignition. The coils drove the thing crazy and made it useless. Perhaps on a car with conventional ignition it would work fine,
