Jeff, I blush to confess I don't remember which model Schebler my car has. It was on the car when I got it. Here's a picture of it. The auxiliary air valve is the leftmost part of the picture, facing forward in the car. To hold it open, you have to reach underneath and push up.

Re: Starting 1911 Buick 33
I assume you have reasonably equal compression on all cylinders, and that the ignition is correctly timed to fire at or after TDC on the cylinder with compression. It’s easy to have the timing 180 degrees off. If you’ve checked these things, read on. I have a 1912 Model 35, basically the same small ...

New Directors
Is there any chance, however remote, that the members might soon learn who their new directors are?

The Annual Hangover
Hangovers come from prior overindulgence. Before I could have a Hershey Hangover for the sixth year, I had to – once again! – OD on Hershey. I began my binge on Friday. Since my Stanley’s wheels were loose, I took them to Mel Draper to have new ones made by Noah Stutzman. IMG_2637.jpg Business compl...

A Glorious 1&2 in Virginia
Doug and Beverly Tomb ran the 2017 Eastern National One-and Two-Cylinder Tour last week in Orange, Virginia. It was their debut tour, they did it alone, and they did a spectacular job. There were 28 cars (including three Stanleys!) signed up, from Florida in the south, to Maine in the north, to Miss...

Re: Coils
It might depend on just how oddball a coil you need. If you're talking buzz coils, R. V. Anderson makes them for single-cylinder Cadillacs, I believe. He may do others. If he doesn't he'll probably know who does.

Running on Empty with a Horse's Ass!
Darlene and Steve Bono created this year’s North Jersey Regional Group tour. As has become practically a tradition, it happened outside North Jersey, this year in Hamilton, NY. As has also been a tradition, we had participants from the Southern Ontario RG, who were deemed for the purpose of this tou...

Re: Motor Muster and Old Car Festival at Greenfield Village
There's a lot of rant on the Model T website, because a lot of Model Ts appear to be going to be excluded from a festival that wouldn't exist but for the Model T. The folks who run the Lansing-Dearborn, which the OCF no longer supports, are considering whether to change the location and/or venue of ...

Re: Any good books focusing on pre-1916 automobiles?
There are several good books on specific makes of early cars. For Model T Fords, Bruce McCalley's book. For earlier Fords, Carl Pate's. For Franklins, Mark Chaplin's. For Pullmans, a little paperback called "Path to the Present". For Curved Dash Oldsmobiles, Gary Hoonsbeen's. For Stanleys, Kit Foste...

Re: Drive Chain Maintenance
Back in the day, a single chain under the middle of a car was subject to horrible abuse. If the wheels were slogging through muddy ruts, the chain might be cutting a path in the hump of dirt between the ruts. Owner's manuals would tell you to remove the chain once a week, clean it in kerosene, and t...

2016 Eastern National One-and Two-Cylinder Tour
This is the tour that almost wasn’t. Tourmaster Bob Barrett, working alone, had health issues this year that delayed his putting the tour together. But with registration help from Belinda Singe, and with improved health, Bob was able to pull it off. We were treated to four fun days with lively compa...

Hung Over Again - This Is Becoming a Habit!
This year’s Hershey Hangover was another international touring experience. While there were no Aussies or Irish, we did have the Van Dykens from Canada with their Buick, Willem van der Horst and Hans van der Wouden from the Netherlands (via the UK) with the Buick they keep in the US for touring, and...
