Re: Rebuild Improvements for Reliability 1909 Locomobile

Here is an update and "Tip for the Day". The tip is to take a break and clear your mind once in a while. I did that by doing a road trip, graduated a grandson from high school, visited a "new soon to be opened" Private Auto Museum in El Paso Texas, then finished up by visiting Carlsbad Caverns, (all...

Re: Jones Speedometer

Hello Jeff, That is a nice unit. Pump pliers are good for some things...for sure. But as you mentioned, you WILL have a new set of problems to deal with when used for this application. Have you thought of using an oil filter type strap wrench that has a nice solid but rubber lined strap? I have used...

Re: 1910 Overland restoration

Good Morning Jack, I was beginning to think that you had fallen off the edge! It's a busy time for sure. We did the Golden Spike 150 year celebration, then graduated our oldest Grandson in Tucson, then vacationed on to El Paso and Carlsbad Caverns. What a nice trip! But my "sitter" is all "sit out" ...

Re: Rebuild Improvements for Reliability 1909 Locomobile

Update on the Mahogany spark plug wiring loom. I have found a pair of suitable support brackets that I can modify and use as a pattern to have new perfect fitting support brackets for the Locomobile. As this project moves along I will update here. The "Tip" for the day is to keep progress moving, th...

Re: Rebuild Improvements for Reliability 1909 Locomobile

I need a "Tip" for a good source for a few smaller pieces of Mahogany wood from which to build my Locomobile spark plug wiring looms. The pieces I need can actually be more or less left overs. The size should be 2" x 1/2" x 2', three of them. See the attached picture. This pair is from a six cylinde...

Re: Rebuild Improvements for Reliability 1909 Locomobile

Here is a picture of a couple of options that may work to assist with removing valve cape caps that have been stuck in place for many years. Any thoughts?

Re: Rebuild Improvements for Reliability 1909 Locomobile

I have learned that Timken makes a drop forged hubcap removal tool that may work and be suitable to remove the valve cage caps. That is my "Tip" for this day.

Re: Rebuild Improvements for Reliability 1909 Locomobile

I am looking for a spanner/striking wrench similar to this unit shown. Both six flat and eight flat with the dimensions shown above.

Re: POST YOUR BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES

Here is a before and after picture of a brass valve cage. These pieces are way to damage and not real easy to repair and have them look nice if they are damaged.
