Calling All Prest-O-Lite Users

Post by Bharper » Sat Jun 03, 2006 12:44 pm

Hi, I am looking into reviving a Prest-O-Lite tank. My 1918 Dykes encyclopedia does mention them, but my interests are in putting one back into service and the Dykes does not help.
How does one ensure the safety of this pressure vessel?
Where and how do I get it tested and certified?
What is the normal operating pressure? 500 psi?
Any tricks or cautions to employ in removing the gauges?
Where will I get this filled?
Thank you for taking the time to read this and to respond.

Sorry, but all vintage Prest-O-Lite tanks are "out-of-test", meaning they are too old to be re-filled. Be very careful with acetylene.
