Early front wheel & 1 piece spindle for ID

Post by Andrew Brand » Sat May 21, 2016 3:22 pm

Hi all.

This wheel was found in Australia, so could be American or European, however it seems to be a 23" rim (ie: same as T, for 30 x 3.5 tire). The hub is 6 5/8 inches diameter. The unusual steering arm on the spindle may be the clue. It sweeps outward and only just clears the hub bolts. Any ideas?

I don't know the exact application, but the spindle angling out like that implies that the car it came from would have had the steering tie rod in front of the axle in order to have proper Ackerman steering geometry. Maybe this will help narrow down the possibilities. :)

It looks a lot like the wheel being restored in the '06 Spyker video, only smaller. The Spyker has fourteen spokes and seven bolts. Your's has twelve spokes and six bolts. Just a clue.
