Wood steering wheel repair/restoration

Postby jeff deringer » Thu Aug 17, 2017 2:12 pm

I need to repair and restore the wooden steering wheel on my 29 Lincoln. Does anybody have any restoration tips, types of epoxy to use, etc., or is it better left to a professional restorer. I haven't been able to find one that did older wheels on the internet so was thinking I might have to do it myself. I'd rather pay someone to do it professionally as this is my most favorite driver.

Thank you,

Without any photos not sure whats needed to repair but I have 1923 Lincoln that am restoring and it had "fat man steering wheel" with very little wood remaining I have made all my own pieces using Ash, few basic tools (band-saw, router, etc.) and laminated with basic wood glue (Elmer's) Wheel isn't finished yet but am confident it will turn out good
