Valve guides

Post by Ken » Sat Dec 15, 2018 10:52 am

Rebuilding a cylinder head for a 1918 Buick, 4-cyl.
This engine has external rocker arms and springs.
Using new stainless valves and bronze guides, what would be a safe valve guide clearance to run. I’m leaning towards .002”, but would like to get more feedback. No oil supply to the external springs, rockers, but there are oil ports on the rockers.
What would be the proper procedure for driving this car. Do we manually oil the rockers at the start, and at some predetermined mileage, not sure.
very interesting project so far.
Thanks
Ken

This book may provide some guidance. I have no connection to the listing or the seller. :)
