This car has a fascinating history and is beautifully restored and ready for action now!
The Bentley Driver’s club wrote in 1961 that it was sold new to Mr. Jack Withers of the UK, then in 1925 to Lt. Col A.F. Brooke , in 1930 to Lt. Cmndr H.C. Daines of London, in 1934 to Mr. E. S. Powell, London, in 1935 to Mr. C.L. Copeland, London, in 1935 to Mr. G.D. Lamb, London, and in 1937 to Mr. Victor Bays, of London.
According to a letter from the Bentley Driver’s club in 1967, the car was originally a Harrington open 4 seater. It was rebodied as a tourer again by an unspecified coachbuilder in 1939 under Mr. Bays direction, and a photo exists of that configuration. Mr. Bays owned it until 1961.
By 1961 it was in the U.S. with Dr. T.R. Reed of Quincy, Ill, and then shortly thereafter to A.D. Glover, of Canton, Missouri, who kept it until his passing in 2004. All of this documentation is included with the car.
Dr. Harvey L. Carter III of Dallas, TX purchased it from Mr. Glover’s family, and had the Jarvis style coachwork and restoration work professionally done in time to win the Amelia Award-European Classic Pre-War at the Amelia Island Concours d’elegance in 2011.
In 2017, the Bentley was acquired by the current prominent owner enthusiast for touring and show duties. Phil Reilly & Co gave it a complete engine rebuild in 2021. The professional work shines through both cosmetically and mechanically, and it is truly ready to enjoy now.
It has successfully completed several recent vintage tours including:
Mozart tour 2023
Mozart tour 2024
Modoc tour 2023
Modoc Tour 2024
Holiday Motor tours 2023 and 2024
