METZ / Waltham Prewar car weekend events.

On Saturday Sept.23rd, the Waltham Museum will be open 10am-2pm for tours and a 1pm talk with Charles Herman Metz. Come meet the man who raced and innovated bicycles in the 1890s, who was the first mass producer of motorcycles in the U.S., and who as a peer of Henry Ford manufactured automobiles at the Waltham Manufacturing Company and then the Metz Company until 1922. Charles H. Metz bought the Gore Estate in 1911 and lined his cars on the top of the hill for display.

Sat 9/23 1 pm Charles Herman Metz talk by Waltham resident Bob McGann at the Waltham Museum, 25 Lexington St. Regular admission.
Join us Sunday, Sept 24th at Gore Place for the Motorhead Car Show. As cars fill the Gore field, look up at the Gore Mansion and see what Charles Metz saw a century ago - his Metz cars lined up showcased at the top of the hill with the mansion as a backdrop! Beside them proudly sit other Prewar Brass Era cars! Sun 9/24 The Motorheads Car Club in conjunction with Gore Place, Waltham Museum, Metz / Waltham Vehicle Owners Group / Marsh Metz Owners & Waltham Historical Society invite you to participate in a show of prewar vehicles including those manufactured in Waltham, Ma. by Charles Metz, Piper Tinker, Orient Bicycles, Orient Motorcycles & others including Marsh / Metz Motorcycles of Brockton, Ma. Free to the public

Call 508.320.8876 for more information.

This annual event is really turning into something. We have had very positive response regarding attendance. We also are suggesting attendees wear period attire if you like.
