2012 Midwest Brass & Gas Region's
May 16-19, 2012

The Midwest Brass & Gas region, formerly affiliated with the VMCCA, celebrated its new association with the Horseless Carriage Club of America with a three day spring tour, May 16-19. The event was based at the Odawa Casino Hotel high on the bluffs of Little Traverse Bay in Petoskey, Michigan, and attracted thirty-five cars built before 1913 and seventy-three participants.
The tour meandered about in the northen tip of Michigan's lower peninsula, an area that stretches from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron, from the cities of Petoskey to Charlevoix to Cheboygan. It is an area of lakes, and sand dunes and fruit orchards where old roads wind through the valleys and rolling hills, where automobile travel can slow to a stop for a lift bridge or small river ferry.
The area is prime summer vacation land, but in the month of May the traffic is scarce and the slow speed of our vintage cars was most comfortable on these back roads. The weather was warm and dry, the driving directions clearly written and the joy of driving an old car down these country roads unobstructed by modern traffic was most pleasurable.
