1910 Hudson Touring Car

Brass lovers!! 1910 Hudson touring car. This car is a GREAT “driver”…I’ll detail that in a moment but it has tons of power and is easy to drive. Aesthetically, it’s an 8. Recent paint on the body, frame, wheels, under carriage, fenders. Top is new and in excellent shape. Leather is older, but totally livable. Carpet in back is in good shape, floor in front floor is good too. I’d give the paint a 8.5-9, brass is a 2 -it needs love. Leather, a 7. Floors an 8 and top a 10.

This car is rare; there aren’t many complete, running ’10 Hudson touring cars left. Our family owned another ’10 Hudson Touring back in the early ’80’s and at the time, we were sure it was 1 of 1 left in existence. More recently we found this one, so not 1 of 1….but rare still.

On the other hand, “mods” hurt the rarity, in my opinion….and this car has lots of them. It’s what my family and I have always referred to as a “California Car”….which is (apparently and for reasons that I don’t fully understand) our family speak for brass era cars that have been modified to “drive better”, at the expense of originality. To that end, the car has the following “mods”:

*12v Electric starter, modern 12v alternator and battery.

*Non original buzzer coils and coil box (I THINK the box is from a Model T?)

*Semi modern, fully synchronized 3 speed manual trans (still actuated be stock shifter), using the stock leather faced cone clutch.

*Electric lights w/turn signals/brake lights.

*Modern radiator core housed in stock/original brass radiator housing

*Electric fuel pump

*Engine mods for power and ease of operation -much of this will be speculation b/c we haven’t had it apart…

*High compression pistons, for sure

*Cam

*More modern carb…maybe a Model A carb? It has more modern features like a proper venturi, needle adjustment for the main jet, and an actual choke. All of the interface between these upgrades have controls inside the car, so there is a choke lever, starter button, on/off toggle switch (for the alternator) and a toggle for the fuel pump. None of this stuff is original or correct but the car has got to have ~40 hp; it’s a dramatic improvement over the original ~25 hp. It accelerates (builds RPM) somewhat like a modern car….unlike a brass era car that is stock. It pulls hills like a freight train and rarely needs to down shift. It will cruise easily at 45 mph, and go right on past that to the point where it starts to feel more RPM limited (you’re maybe revving it too high?), than power limited. All of this contributes to the great driveability of the car, while hurting originality. So these feature could be a benefit or a liability to you, depending on your tastes and preferences.

The car is currently located in western Maine, we’re looking for $45,000.00 OBO for it. Thanks for reading. Car comes with:

Spare engine block

Original 3 speed transmission.

Lots of pretty incredible memories!

Here is a short vid of the car from this past summer’s Bras and Gas tour, just to give an idea of how it runs. This video was taken this past June, at the 2025 NE Brass & Gas tour in Rockland Maine -the last time that the car was run, so it’s a pretty recent depiction…..
