1912 Krit Touring Car
This 1912 Krit, an all-original classic, is a rare find with a fascinating history. It has remained in the same family since 1953 and was last driven about 15 years ago, showcasing its well-preserved condition. The car is powered by an Offenhauser engine with an aluminum block, paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. The unique hand-crank start adds to its vintage charm, while the stock wooden wheels and gas headlights give it an authentic early-20th-century look.
One particularly interesting aspect of the car is the Krit Company’s choice of logo. While the logo features a swastika, it’s important to note that this is not the same symbol that became associated with the Nazis. The Krit logo’s swastika is upright and symmetrical, symbolizing good fortune, a common motif before World War II. Unfortunately, after the war, the stigma surrounding the swastika led to many Krit cars being destroyed – per my grandfather’s storytelling.
This particular car is located in Central California, offering a rare opportunity for vintage car collectors or history enthusiasts to acquire a piece of automotive history.
