Events for the 2024 London to Brighton Run started with the St. James Spectacle Concours on Pall Mall in front of the RAC Clubhouse. Approximately 75 pre-1905 veteran vehicles were part of the show. The event packed in overwhelming crowds who came to see the ancient cars along with more modern automobiles like Aston-Martin, Fiat, and Volkswagen. Celebrities who attended included: Rowan Atkinson, Mike Brewer, Edd China, and Prince Michael of Kent. Highlights also included a group picture of all of the ladies who dressed in period clothing and Rowan Atkinson driving the 1896 Salvesen Steam Car. The Ladies’ Automobile Club selected HCCA President Russell and Chris Holden’s 1902 Thomas for their award. On Sunday, November 3, approximately 367 veteran cars started to leave Hyde Park at 7:00 a.m. on the annual London to Brighton Run. The 2024 Run celebrated the 120th Anniversary of the Ladies’ Automobile Club. Women drivers were encouraged to participate and we did! Special thanks to John Biggs for allowing me the opportunity to drive his 1904 Ford Model C in this year’s event. There will be more in the March-April Gazette!
