I am proud to announce that Steve Cook is our 2025 Marian Welch Award winner. Steve has been a member of the HCCA for over 40 years. His involvement in promoting the restoration and use of Brass Era cars has been a lifelong journey. Here is a list of some of his accomplishments to that end:
- Steve is a co-founder of a pre-1916 car HCCA group now in the New England region called the “The Autoneers.” He served as the group’s leader and chief information officer before turning the mantle over to Skip Carpenter and the late Don Rising.
- He spent many years helping organize and run the New England Brass and Gas Tour where he introduced his specialty, the Mystery Tour (a source of fun and frustration for many).
- Steve organized and ran many local and national HCCA tours in both the Northeast and the Southeast. Steve was instrumental in helping to organize and run four different national conventions.
- Steve spent six years on the HCCA National Board of Directors and was HCCA president in 2019.
- He is a past president of the HCCA Florida Region where he personally hosted several weekend tours.
- Steve assisted the Stanley Museum in computerizing the Sprague Register of existing Stanley automobiles.
- He built and ran the website for the HCCA Florida Region for 13 years.
- He also built and still maintains the website for the HCCA Autoneers Regional Group.
- Recently he co-founded the newly created HCCA Register group called the “Dixie SloRiders,” which is a predominantly one- and two-cylinder group active in the Southeast.
- Steve currently assists many Brass Era car enthusiasts with their restoration and mechanical projects.
